His favourite smell is bacon being cooked, he’d like to share a car with James Corden, Kelly Brook and Katherine Jenkins, lists Escape to the Chateau and A Place in the Sun as his favourite TV shows and gets angry at littering. 

Richard Blunderfield, Co-founder, ROUTEpr & Events, takes the 20 Questions’ hotseat. 

Question: What is your favourite TV show?

Answer: Escape to the Chateau and A Place in the Sun – they’re both great for inspiration and escapism!

Q: Who would you like to share a car with?

A: James Corden, Kelly Brook and, if there is room, Katherine Jenkins for the fun and the songs, and in Kelly’s case the eye candy! Well I’ve got to dream…

Q: The best bit of my job is…?

A: I get to meet a variety of different people from all types of backgrounds and they’ve all got a unique story to tell. I love being able to help them write the next chapter or two.

Q: And the worst…?

A: The accounts and the legal side .

Q: Who was your childhood hero?

A: Margaret Thatcher (so marmite to so many) but she inspired me to buy my own home at 18 years of age and to go for it and run my business as well.

Q: What’s your favourite smell?

A: Bacon being cooked.

Q: Where’s your favourite place in Dorset?

A: Our back garden and view of the River Stour.

Q: What advice would you give to anyone starting out on a career?

A: Aim high, make connections, get advice from respected professionals, keep learning and believe in yourself and what you’ve achieved.

Q: What was your first record/CD?

A: The Jungle Book and I still love The Bare Necessities which I had as a birthday present.

Q: What gets you angry?

A: Littering – take your rubbish home and dog pooh back with you or find a bin. Grrr.

Q: Do you have a favourite piece of music?

A: The Wall by Pink Floyd or any Floyd after the psychedelic era!

Q: What are the qualities you look for in a new employee?

A: Loyalty, creativity and no dramas.

Q: What’s your favourite food or dish?

A: Thai food is the best.

Q: Steamed sponge pudding and custard or a plate of melon?

A: Melon in the sun and a steamed pud when it’s cold please.

Q: Name the best thing about living/working in Dorset?

A: Easy access to so much in one place from the great beaches, to the forest, great walks, where you can find peace and tranquility as well as great places to stop off for a meal or a drink before heading home – we love finding new walking routes.

Q: If you were Prime Minister for the day what would be the first thing you do?

A: Find a budget and the team to sort out our own country’s poverty and help those people find their place in society with training and long term guidance not just the immediate plastering over the cracks situation.

Q: What’s your biggest frustration?

A: Bad drivers. So frustrating.

Q:  Where’s your favourite holiday location?

A: Vietnam and Cambodia for a long holiday and, if not, then rural Spain and France at any time.

Q: Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?

A: Enjoying life in the sun to the full, seeing friends and family again after this long pandemic as well as seeing the new way forward unfold.

Q: What would you like to be remembered for?

A: Being a good friend, who is kind, thoughtful, and a little bit funny – the Friday fun man!
