Poole BID has confirmed its support of the popular ‘Car Nights on Poole Quay’ by acting as headline sponsor.

It comes after the landlords of two popular local pubs – Anna Doyle of the Lord Nelson and Michelle Smith of the Poole Arms – stepped in to secure the continuation of the Friday evening event during this summer.

The themed car events occur every Friday evening from 6pm until 9pm.

There’s free entry onto the quayside for car owners who fit the theme for each evening.

They range from ‘Air Cooled VW & Porsches’ to ‘Classic Minis & Minors Pre-2000’ on the penultimate Friday (August 23).

Anna and Michelle said: “We are thrilled as Poole Quay Events to be able to keep the traditional Car Nights on the Quay.

“This has been an event on the Quay for many years and, hopefully, many more to come.

“It brings car enthusiasts young and old out to see their favourite cars and with each week having different themes targets a wider audience.

“We look forward to seeing everyone there and also thank Poole BID for their support as well as the other businesses for their continued support to help bring these events to the Quay.”

Poole BID Lead Jacqui Rock, pictured left, said: “We are over the moon that Anna and Michelle have so ably taken over the running of Car Nights on the Quay along with the other long running Quay events now fondly placed under their ‘Poole Quay Events’ banner.

“This clearly showcases their enthusiasm and how they and others of our business community work together to make things happen.

“This has been no easy task.

“Having to actively seek sponsors, stall holders, bands, display cars and volunteer marshals reflects the amount of work involved whilst also running their busy businesses and this is a testament to their drive and enthusiasm.

“The event is great for bringing people together, fostering community spirit, and with the backing of all the sponsors, there’s potential for even greater success and impact in attracting locals and tourists alike while boosting the local economy and creating a vibrant atmosphere right along Poole Quay and the rest of Poole Town.”
