Join in the Great Dorset (Jubilee) Tea Party!

Who doesn’t love a delicious cake, gooey brownie and dainty cucumber sandwiches, all washed down with a cup of tea, whilst raising money for your local charity hospice!?

We would love it if you would consider hosting your own tea party at home to raise money for our incredible charity hospice, so we can continue to deliver vital services for people in our community with life-limiting illnesses.

It’s spring clean time, so don’t forget to declutter and donate your preloved items to your local Lewis-Manning Hospice Care charity shop

We are asking all of our corporate friends if you’d be happy to pop one of our stock donation dump bins in your office, then simply ask your colleagues to donate their preloved items.

By donating your clothes, shoes, bags, sunglasses, suits (the list is endless!) you’ll be helping to provide extraordinary hospice care in your community. You can do a really good thing and turn trainers into treatment, clothes into care and shoes into support.

This month we spoke to Christchurch Assistant Retail Manager – Brittany Richmond.

What’s the best thing about your job?

Being able to work with my amazing volunteers, I have been so welcomed and I’m pleased to consider them both my friends and colleagues. We have fabulous and funny conversations that always brighten my day.

I also love working for Lewis-Manning as it is a charity very close to my heart, as my grandfather used the breathlessness service and my grandmother now engages with the bereavement services. I am proud to work for a charity that has personally helped my family.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever been given?

It was from my dad: “You don’t need an impressive career, you just need to do something you enjoy.”

If you were going to rule the world for the day, what law would you introduce?

I would like all councils to introduce a welcome programme, with the option for English lessons and social activities for refugees who have just arrived in the UK, to welcome them into the local community. I volunteer for a charity teaching English and it is an absolute joy to see my student reach their goals. I would love for there to be opportunities for people to learn languages and to access support.

Tell us something about yourself that we wouldn’t know

I love learning foreign languages and I have studied French, Spanish and Italian.

Describe yourself in 3 words

Kind, chatty and quirky.

Your best place for a holiday is? 

I absolutely love nature and the outdoors. When I was little I went on an amazing adventure to the Azores, where the sand was black.  I even saw a whale and whole pod of dolphins with their calves.

Our aim is to help as many local people as possible, who are dealing with a life limiting illness, to live their precious lives well.
