After a volunteer’s life was saved by a stranger using a defibrillator, Samaritans of Bournemouth and District decided to purchase one using a donation received from East Dorset CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale).
The defibrillator will be fixed to the outside of the branch, in Durrant Road. This life saving piece of equipment will be available for volunteers at Bournemouth branch as well as to local residents and businesses.
After Celia Chambers from East Dorset CAMRA presented the defibrillator to the branch, 12 volunteers undertook a day’s first aid training including use of the machine.
After the presentation and training took place, the Branch Director said: ‘We hope it is never used, but it is a local resource that can bring some reassurance to our volunteers and the local community’.
