A former Warner Bros. executive has penned his debut novel, telling the story of both the male and female character’s point of view – with plenty of twists and turns throughout.

The Opposite Sides of a Coin delves into the way two people try to find a way out of their loneliness in an increasingly digitally-connected world, where it is easy to hide who you really are.

The theme is about identity and what people perceive you to be – rarely is the truth only skin deep.

Author Dominic Wong is the former Marketing Director of Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter.

He is currently a marketing consultant for a range of international theme parks, museums and visitor attractions and is a former Trustee of the Regent Centre Christchurch.

The Boscombe resident, and founder of the Bournemouth Beach Walk and Talk, certainly knows how to tell a story.

He has put his imagination to work at the Harry Potter Studio Tour, Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood and Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi.

Dominic was also the creator and executive producer of A Right Royale Tea – a comedy afternoon tea dining experience following a fictional royal family that debuted in Bournemouth.

He has now turned his talents to novel-writing.

Early readers have rushed to get to the end of his first book.

Comments received include:

  • “What a twist at the end!”
  • “A fast-paced absorbing read”
  • “The premise is excellent, very clever”

Dominic said: “From my background in fun and exciting visitor experiences and learning from the very best in the movie business, I was inspired to write my first novel – especially living so close to the sea.

“I wrote 72,000 words of the first draft in eight days, starting at 5am and finishing past midnight!

“I am ecstatic with the positive early reviews and look forward to bringing further ideas and stories to life.”

The Opposite Sides of a Coin is available on Amazon in ebook and paperback from May 30.

A video trailer for the novel can be seen here.

A sequel, The Same Sides of a Coin, formulated while volunteering at the Bournemouth Foodbank during lockdown, will be released in 2022.
