A specialist employment lawyer who has launched her own practice says she’s been “extremely busy” providing pragmatic advice to clients during the coronavirus crisis.

Michelle Kemp has worked for two local law firms and as a partner in a specialist employment law firm for the past ten years.

Her new employment law practice, Kemps Employment Solicitors, is acting primarily for employers.

It has clients across a range of sectors including retail, hospitality, manufacturing, finance, education and healthcare.

Many have been seriously impacted by the pandemic.

Michelle said launching a new company during such difficult and unprecedented times had presented both challenges and opportunities.

However the focus on her clients had taken priority as employers are potentially facing difficult issues, regarding contracts and staffing.

She added: “The Covid-19 pandemic is continually changing, and the government’s advice for employers is being regularly updated.

“Employers are having to manage completely new circumstances, including furlough leave and revised obligations to health and safety measures.

“This is in addition to coping with the return to work of employees, and in some cases managing redundancies and changing terms and conditions, none of which had been strategically planned for.

“We have been extremely busy providing pragmatic advice to our clients on how to effectively handle employment issues in these difficult times.

“We pride ourselves on becoming part of our clients’ team and providing advice based on what we would do if it were our business.

“In the case of the coronavirus we are advising on all aspects of the legal implications and ensuring businesses are being both fair and fully compliant.”

To mark the launch of Kemps Employment Solicitors, Michelle is inviting employers and business leaders to attend a free employment law update webinar.

Key points around Covid-19 will be covered along with other important non-Covid employment law updates.

The webinar is on Thursday June 18 at 10am and will last approximately one hour.

Pre-registration is required.
