A charitable foundation that trains adults with a range of disabilities welcomed Bournemouth West MP Conor Burns as trainees returned after an absence of nearly six months.

The MP is Patron of Crumbs and visited the Crumbs Training Centre in Hibberd Way, Bournemouth, during its first week of reopening.

Impressed by the enthusiasm and commitment of the trainees on their return to training, he commented on the professionalism of everyone involved.

During the visit Conor spoke with staff about the implementation of the Institute of Hospitality professionally recognised training programme and the trainees about their aspirations for the future.

Over a light lunch he also discussed with Professor Peter Jones, Chair of Crumbs, and Ursula Boardman, Training and Development Manager, the renewed focus on training and how he could support the potential for further developments and funding.

Crumbs trainees are all adults with a range of learning or mental health disabilities who follow a two year training programme that includes transition to work and work placement opportunities.

The aim of Crumbs is to support trainees to enable them to gain employment and live independently.

Professor Jones, pictured right,  said “Conor is an enthusiastic supporter of our work and has been a great help securing project funding in the past.

“We are grateful for his continuing patronage.”
