Bournemouth is to host its first reggae in the park event.
Kings Park will be the venue for the Bournemouth Reggae Weekender from July 4 to 5.
It will feature a full range of entertainment of traditional activities, from live reggae bands, DJs, Selectas and African drummers to kids dance workshops to be enjoyed by all age groups.
Headline acts booked to date include Tippa Irie, Peter Hunnigale, Janet-Lee Davis, DJ Natty B and D’Oxman.
The event will also have an array of artisan traders, craft stands and caterers in keeping with the African-Caribbean culture.
Organisers Afro*Disiac Live Radio say the Bournemouth Reggae Weekender will allow residents, and visitors from further afield, to come together to pay tribute to reggae music and add to the thread of togetherness and diversity.
Lionel Yafele, of Afro*Disiac Live Radio, said the event promised to be a massive hit and had already created a tremendous buzz.
He added: “We are fascinated by the power of music and its ability to bring people together and understand the value of our visitors.
“As part of our commitment, our strategy is to create an event that focuses on culture and diversity.”
Tickets for the event cost £8 for adults and £18 for a family.
The price includes a free complimentary travel service from Bournemouth and Poole provided by the event’s travel partners, Yellow Buses.
The main stage sponsors are VP Records, Wray & Nephew, Red Stripe and Malibu.
