A new festival of fitness, feasting and fun is inviting companies to use the event for much-needed post lockdown team building.

Contender Fest has earmarked the first day of the three-day festival – Friday, September 10 – for businesses.

There are special perks and big discounts for companies bringing a group of co-workers along on the day.

Organisers, who stress that members of the public can still attend, say the event is perfect for team building centring around a testing, but fun, 40-element obstacle course.

Challenges include a 20k sledge pull, wooden incline walls, Berlin walls, tunnels, monkey bars, nets, tyre obstacles, a seesaw and log flip.

Des Burke, Festival Founder, pictured left, said: “The course we’re creating lends perfectly to team building, with tough but not defeating challenges that will require co-workers to demonstrate great communication, mutual support, problem-solving, and resilience to complete in the best times.

“It’s about team-work and taking on challenges, great food, fun and relaxation – all rolled into one shared experience.”

They can also take advantage of everything else the festival has to offer including taster classes across more than 12 fitness disciplines, a craft village, live performances, food, fairground rides and more.

Getting businesses engaged is all part of Des’s vision for a festival that brings people together.

He said: “Technology has helped keep us in touch over lockdown, but there is no substitute for the communication and bonding that goes on when teams are together in person – I know this myself from running my own business.

“That’s why I struck on the idea of including a corporate day at Contender Fest.

“It’s the ideal platform for teams, who may have been working remotely for more than a year, to get back together, reconnect and rebuild those all-important group skills which are vital to business success.”

Competitive events at Contender Fest include the PX2 Team event, where teams of two work together to conquer the course, and the individual event Run 4 Your Life, both offering a £500 cash prize.

There is also the Swarm 100 when 100 people will be let loose to climb, play and overcome the obstacles across the course for an hour, and the Big5, which challenges contenders to complete as many reps across each of five tough exercises in just 60 seconds.

As well as the Contender Games, the event will include taster sessions and classes across 12 different fitness and wellbeing disciplines from yoga and meditation to kickboxing and military-style bootcamp fitness.

Visitors can get kitted out with gym equipment and clothing at fitness-related trade stands, while a host of food traders will be offering up exotic street food, gourmet treats, award-winning local produce, alongside three speciality bars.

There will also be a craft village, children’s mini-obstacle course, fairground rides, face painting, entertainers and Wessex vintage fire trucks – all set across the festival ground in Parley Lane, Hurn, near Bournemouth Airport.
