Sarah Hunter will be the one to steer the future of Bournemouth Pier as she takes her place as Managing Director of Openwide International.
The news comes following former Director Rory Holburn’s management buyout at the end of last year to become the firm’s major shareholder, with former MD Steve Cutbush taking a step back to enjoy retirement.
In her new role, Sarah is looking to meet the demands and desires of an ever-changing modern marketplace on Rory’s behalf.
He said: “Over the past seven years with Openwide, Sarah has impressed me immensely with her tenacity, drive and determination to lead the business forward.
“As Managing Director she’ll bring the next generation of leadership to the company and establish a future to delight the customers of tomorrow.
“She’ll lead a strong team of dedicated professionals across multiple disciplines to continue to deliver for the company, our team and all our partners and clients.”
Over the past 22 years Sarah has built up a strong background in sales and marketing, with an emphasis on leadership and market dynamics.
She’s a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and various leisure attraction groups, as well as a keen sportsperson, having recently completed two Ironman 70.3 triathlons.
Her new role also puts her in charge of Cromer Pier in Norfolk, another attraction in the Openwide portfolio.
Sarah added: “I’m thrilled to have been given this opportunity, and I’ll be looking to work closely with both BCP and North Norfolk District Councils to further enhance and develop our attractions.
“They’re both iconic landmarks and we’re extremely privileged to be charged with operating and protecting their heritage for future generations, whilst continuing to delight the needs of the locals and tourists of today.
“This is such a great industry to work in, and the guest experience will always be central in everything we do as we seek to develop new business opportunities and partners in the UK and internationally.
“It’s the start of an exciting new chapter for the company – we’ve already started working on plans to develop and grow the business, and I’m truly honoured to have been given this opportunity to lead the company forward.”
