Frettens, the law firm with offices in Christchurch and Ringwood, has taken on seven new starters across July and August.

Among the seven were students Anisah Alamm and Abigail Harvey, who joined the Company & Commercial and Commercial Property teams respectively as part of the firm’s placement programme.

The one-year programme gives law students the opportunity to gain practical experience in the legal world between their studies, taking on a variety of work, potentially in multiple legal departments, to supply them with a grounding for all areas of law.

Zak Kahn, who previously participated in the programme, wrote a blog and a Q&A about his experiences.

Lewis Barr, Marketing Director, said: “The firm has seen a real shift in focus in the last couple of years towards the next generation of lawyers. Our Placement Programme, Graduate Scheme and BCP Young Professionals events are all great examples of this shift.

“We believe that investing in this new generation is crucial to our continued success, growth and longevity; so it’s fantastic to not only secure two placement students for the coming year, but also a host of promising staff members.

“And there’s still plenty opportunity for more expansion and recruitment in the coming months!”

In July, Frettens gained five new starters – Olivia La Masurier, who joined as an Associate in the Family Law team, Nathan Watson, a Paralegal in the Residential Conveyancing team,  Lauryn Ellis, a Wills & Tax Secretary and Alexander Tuffin and Myles Hudson, who both joined the firm’s IT department as Support Assistants.

Olivia said: “I’ve received the warmest of welcomes not only from the very talented family team, but from everyone here. It’s clear to see why the firm has the reputation it does and I’m excited to be part of such a dynamic and progressive team.”

Lauryn said: “I’ve really enjoyed my first month at Frettens, everyone has been so welcoming, helpful and happy to answer any questions I’ve had. The Wills & Tax team in particular have done everything they can to help me settle in.

“If the welcome I’ve received here is anything to go by, I’m really looking forward to my future at Frettens.”

Matthew Fretten, Managing Partner, said: “At Frettens, people are at the heart of everything we do, and recruitment has always been crucial to our success.

“This latest round of new starters not only moves us another step closer to meeting our long-term recruitment goals, but also cements us as a genuine alternative to our regional competitors; and a firm with real pull.

“Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing the positive impact that the new faces have both within their departments and on the firm as a whole. When Frettens thrive, so do its staff.”
