Meet one very talented family.
Polly Durrant, partner Andrew Laidlow and their children William, 13; Jasmine, 11, and Etoile, ten, raised £875 in just one week for two food banks after recording a Christmas music video.
And the figure was achieved without even sharing on social media.
Just reward for a project which had been more than four months in the planning.
Polly, who is the Business Development Coordinator at LiveWell Dorset, said: “Back in June, each of the children were gifted a voucher to spend by their aunty with instructions to ‘Pay the kindness forward’.

“For a while we deliberated over how to do that in Covid times safely, and with some lasting effect.
“Then one blistering afternoon in August we talked about our Christmas video.
“It had become our tradition to record a short music video at Christmas, but this year we thought – let’s go for it!
“We talked around lots of Christmas hits, but what would help deliver some comedy and a heartfelt Christmas message?
“The opening sequence of Love Actually, and the iconic doorstep scene, soon stood out as our best opportunity.
“Costume planning, and storyboarding started in mid-October at which point we said to the children that we were planning to make this particularly special as we wanted it to be a fundraiser.

“We gave the children the task of choosing a worthy cause – luckily they were unanimous that local food banks were the most in need this winter.
“We all agreed that we would set a target of £100, and share the video with friends and family only.
“We honestly didn’t expect huge donations.
“We just knew we wanted to do ‘something’.
“Fortunately we don’t take ourselves too seriously.
“So armed with a snow machine and an iPad (and some hastily sewn costumes) we set about filming on a rainy November afternoon in Lockdown 2 in our back garden and garage.
“All credit goes to the children for the editing, while Andrew and I tried to ‘help’ they truly had it all sorted from day on.
“They are all a whizz at iMovie. Thank goodness.

“The final cut came together on the night before Advent, the perfect time to share.
“On December 1, we held two Zoom meetings with our respective families and had our ‘premiere’ (minus the red carpet and fancy dresses)
“In little more than a week, just sharing amongst our families and close friends we had raised £875 – to us this is staggering.

“Firstly the incredible generosity of those we reached out to in such a tough year, and that our ‘entertainment’ was so well received!”
The funds have now been donated to the Weymouth Food Bank and Chickerell Food Bank.
Polly said: “We really hope that it goes some way to helping local families this Christmas and New Year.”
