This time…Her childhood hero was Kylie Minogue, she’d like to share a car with the comedian Rhod Gilbert and chooses Canada as her favourite holiday destination.

Nicola Green, Workplace Menopause Expert, Nicola Green Consultancy, takes the 20 Questions’ hot seat.

Question: What is your favourite TV show?

A: I loved The Crown, but I am now hooked on Motherland. Quite a contrast I know!

Q: Who would you like to share a car with?

A: The comedian Rhod Gilbert. It would be a fun journey.

Q: The best bit of my job is…?

A: The connection I make with the audience and receiving feedback of the positive changes individuals have made to their lives following my presentations.

Q: And the worst?

A: The self-employment rollercoaster. If you are self-employed; you will know what I mean.

Q: Who was your childhood hero?

A: Kylie Minogue. I was such a fan.

Q: What’s your favourite smell?

A: Fresh laundry off the washing line. You can’t beat it!

Q: Where’s your favourite place in Dorset?

A: Branksome Chine for special beach day memories with my children and friends. More recently, Lyme Regis. I love to be near the sea.

Q: What advice would you give to anyone starting out on a career?

A: Believe in yourself and what you want to achieve. Hard work pays off, but always remain respectful to those who have helped you grow and ensure you do something you enjoy.

Q: What was your first record/CD?

A: Sadly, it’s a record. ‘Cross My Broken Heart’ by Sinitta.

Q: What gets you angry?

A: This is easy as it happened again this week. When I am saving the last square or two of my favourite chocolate and my husband swipes it from the fridge thinking I don’t want it because it has been there so long. Don’t even get me started on this…!

Q: Do you have a favourite piece of music?

A: The current track I am playing when I need to separate the work/home life is ‘Dancing in the Dark’ by Bruce Springsteen. You can’t help but sing along and switch the mood.

Q: What are the qualities you look for in a new employee?

A: Alignment of values, enthusiasm and passion to make a difference.

Q: What’s your favourite food or dish?

A: Easy one. A roast dinner.

Q: Steamed sponge pudding and custard or a plate of melon?

A: Don’t let the nutritionist I am currently working with read this, but steamed sponge pudding and custard for sure!

Q: Name the best thing about living/working in Dorset?

A: The country walks on our doorstep.

Q: If you were Prime Minister for the day what would be the first thing you do?

A: Create a phone ‘check-in’ service to those who have been diagnosed with a life changing condition or been bereaved. A support service to simply say “How are you” and “Do you know what support is available to you?” This should continue for up to two years.

Q: What’s your biggest frustration?

A: At home – unpaired socks! Apart from socks it would have to be people’s limited ability and confidence to feel comfortable having difficult conversations.

Q:  Where’s your favourite holiday location?

A: I had the delight of visiting Canada in 2019 and it was the perfect place for reflection and fun. I had recently launched my business and it gave me the most wonderful environment to stop, pause and take stock. Plus, my very dear friend emigrated to Canada and I was able to spend time with her.

Q: Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?

A: Professionally, I hope to have expanded my business to include a wide range of experts addressing inspirational topics in the workplace, whilst creating a team to support the same. Personally, I would like to have travelled more and continue to be surrounded by those I love.

Q: What would you like to be remembered for?

A: Personally, being a good mum; this has always been the most important thing to me and being there for others. Professionally, someone who always showed determination for what she wanted to achieve and made a difference to people’s lives.
