Royal warrant holder marks the coronation year by pledging support for three youth charities in 2023

A royal warrant holder is marking the coronation of King Charles III by partnering with three locally-based youth charities this year.

Bournemouth-based Barker specialises in the care and development of fine fabric products.

The business has the largest domestic laundry in the UK and is a specialist dry cleaner.

It also manufactures and supplies gentlemen’s dresswear to retailers around the world.

Matthew Barker, Managing Director, said: “As a business we are really keen to do our bit to celebrate and mark the coronation, it’s only the 39th coronation since 1066!

“In line with many of the King’s initiatives, we have chosen three charities that are focused on the education and support of young people and are largely volunteer led.

“The three charities that we will be supporting for the remainder of the coronation year are Elevate Foundation, Boo Charity and Life Education Wessex & Thames Valley.

“The Barker staff team will all be getting involved in different fundraising activities throughout 2023.

“We will also be looking to engage our fabulous clients too.

“There will be a variety of initiatives taking place, including an online auction with the opportunity to bid for an array of products and prizes.

“We will also be hosting cakes sales, placing collection boxes in all our stores and much more.

“We are really looking forward to celebrating this momentous coronation year.

“All proceeds raised will be shared equally between the nominated charities.”

Elevate Foundation exists to provide support and give opportunities for all young people to build their resilience and strength while Boo Charity supports African children who are disadvantaged through economic poverty.

Life Education Wessex & Thames Valley is a delivery partner of the UK’s leading health, drug and emotional wellbeing education programme, Coram Life Education.

It helps to effectively communicate healthy lifestyle messages and empower children, aged three to 13, with the knowledge, skills and self-confidence to make positive healthy decisions and stay safe in schools across Wessex and Thames Valley.​

Anthony A. Barker, trading as Barker Group, holds a royal warrant for the supply of laundry services to King Charles when he was the Prince of Wales.
