Staff and clients of a major Dorset law firm are now enjoying some of the world’s finest coffee with the beans sent by bicycle to its Bournemouth office from a nearby roastery.

Speciality coffee supplier amamus, which already counts an investment bank, care home provider and radio station among its clients, has landed a deal to supply bespoke coffee services to Lester Aldridge.

As part of the firm’s commitment to sustainable business practises, freshly hand-roasted speciality Brazilian coffee beans are delivered by bicycle direct from a nearby roastery to its Oxford Road offices in returnable containers.

The quality beans are freshly ground on the premises using a new burr grinder.

The brewed coffee is then served in the firm’s meeting suite in double-walled glass carafes and glasses, which keep the coffee fresh and tasty for longer.

Sharon Mitchell, Lester Aldridge’s Head of Facilities and Infrastructure, said: “Coffee is an essential part of our client experience and, with the support of amamus, we have completely removed the use of single-use plastics and carbon emissions associated with local delivery.

“Freshly grinding our coffee beans unlocks all the flavour just before each meeting. We are always looking to work with businesses that share our values and amamus are proving to be a superb coffee partner for Lester Aldridge.”

Grant Esterhuizen, Partner, said initial client feedback on the new coffee from amamus had been “superb.”

He added: “We are proud of the consistently high quality legal services we provide but the truth is that much of our client business is undertaken in meetings.

“Serving speciality coffee is another way we can emphasise our commitment to creating high quality client experiences as well as relentlessly pursuing our sustainability agenda.

“It’s vitally important to our firm that the way we operate is ethical and environmentally responsible. Buying speciality coffee from farmers who are paid a fair price in exchange for better quality coffee is the only choice for us.”

Tim Wookey, Founder and Managing Director of amamus, said: “Our business coffee is ‘speciality’ grade which means the farmers are paid a fair price for their crop, the coffee will meet stringent quality standards, and it will score at least 80 points/100 when taste-tested by an expert Q-Grader accredited by the Coffee Quality Institute.

Other clients of amamus include Colten Care, Wave 105 and Hearnes estate agents.
