Star Tech Ltd in Poole, Dorset’s leading Mercedes, BMW & Jaguar Specialist Service Centre, leaps ahead with new sustainability measures.

We are living in a world where most industries are constantly searching for new ways to achieve sustainability in the way they work.

As the automotive industry pushes forward in the form of electric vehicles, it has never been more important for service centres to be environmentally aware.

Star Tech’s Founder and Managing Director, Matt Peacock, says: “Trying to be environmentally friendly in our industry is difficult due to the types of materials and chemicals we use.

“Despite this, we have been working hard to improve our ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) and the company’s carbon footprint.

“So, what changes have been made at Star Tech over the last year?

“We have proudly purchased two brand new electric Smart courtesy cars to replace previous petrol vehicles, which are available on request when booking your car in.

“This is perfectly timed as we see increasing numbers of electric vehicles visiting our workshops for servicing and repairs.

“In addition, our workshop technicians have re-usable protective seat covers, floor mats and wing sheets instead of disposable ones.

“We also adhere to very strict factors when disposing of our waste products and recycle as much as possible with scrap metal being collected by specialists.

“Regarding admin processes, our technicians log all their work through state-of-the-art technology instead of paper job cards.

“Our consumables and oil are purchased in bulk to cut down on individual packaging in a bid to cut plastic waste.”

There are also ways in which car owners can do their bit for the environment by choosing a fuel-efficient car and keeping it well maintained to reduce the amount of CO2 emissions.

Star Tech places huge importance on ensuring customers stay safe on the road and drive well maintained, roadworthy cars.

Hence its decision to invest in the Forte Power Clean equipment to clean the intake and exhaust systems rather than replace parts unnecessarily.

This ensures the exhaust emissions are within the correct range, not just at Mot time but throughout the year.

Of course, owning an electric or hybrid vehicle is the way forward and Star Tech has all of the technology and knowledge to help maintain these cars for customers.
