A debut single from Bournemouth singer/songwriter Susie Kimber is winning praise as it hits the airwaves of radio stations.

The pop ballad ‘Don’t Wait’ has already been played on more than ten radio stations across the country in just seven days.

It was released on February 21.

The rise of digital stations has given more opportunity for original music to be heard.

Don’t Wait has received comments such as:

• “A deep and wonderful song” – DJ Chris Milligan from Vibe 107.6 in Watford.
• “Beautiful” – DJ Kev Scott of Hot Radio across Dorset and Hampshire.
• “Great song” – DJ Leigh Perry of Solihull Radio, near Birmingham.

Susie said: “Presenters and producers have been so welcoming.

“It has been so well received including Track of The Week on Burnham Radio and The Eye 103FM.

“There is more airplay planned for future weeks and I am so grateful.

“I just want as many people as possible to enjoy my song.

“Don’t Wait was written during lockdown with the message don’t wait to tell someone you love them.

“It’s a deeply personal song for me.

“It’s about someone I’ve known all my life and it’s a plea for them to spend time, talk and do things before time passes.

“It’s a song written and inspired by lockdown and it struck me as very pertinent in these times when we haven’t been able to see, spend time and hug tightly loved ones and friends.

“It’s about not always having the time that we think we may have – with life’s twists and turns.

“I think the message of the song can resonate with us all no matter what our age.

“People have faced incredibly dark and troubled times this year, and throughout life, and the need to tell people how you feel and that you love them is incredibly important, now more than ever.”

Susie is normally seen performing at venues across the South including Larmer Tree Gardens near Tollard Royal on the Dorset/Wiltshire border and Bournemouth’s Hotel Miramar.

Known for her style in soul, funk and jazz, one of Susie’s favourite gigs is at the Swanage Jazz Festival.

Now that dates have been announced for bars, restaurants, hotels and festivals to potentially open, the singer is looking forward to a busy summer and festive period.

Lockdown has impacted heavily on many performers.

But Susie has been able to use the time to improve her shows and write songs between a new care home job to pay the bills.

Don’t Wait is co-written with Caroline B after they met at the South Coast Music Network hosted at Absolute Music.

The song is produced by Matt Black and is soon to feature on his own radio show, Black On Track.
