The Mowlem Theatre in Swanage has announced a significant refurbishment project for its Community Room.
The theatre is aiming to create a welcoming, versatile and engaging space for community members, enhancing the space to better serve the needs and aspirations of our residents and visitors.
It is part of a wider effort by Trustees and staff to improve building facilities, programming and opportunities for arts and culture.
Vice chair of trustees, Dawn Morley, who has led the Community Room Working Group, said: “At the Mowlem we are truly excited by the possibilities of this amazing new space.
“It will provide a modern and well-equipped new venue in Swanage to extend both our programming and use by community group.”
The Mowlem has received more than £100,000 for the project which will involve updating the decor, refurbishing the kitchen, new furniture, and improving the tech resources, ensuring the room becomes a vibrant and accessible resource for local groups and events.
Work will begin on 15th April and is expected to be completed ahead of an open event on 1st June.
In a statement, The Mowlem Institute Charity gave thanks and gratitude to funders including Swanage Town Council, De Moulham Trust, Talbot Village Trust, Caring as One Charity and other individual donations.
