We cannot thank our volunteers enough for their continued support and help.

Each month we turn the spotlight on one of these incredible people who are an integral part of the organisation.

This month we meet Volunteer Driver Harry Masters.

When and why did you start volunteering?

I started volunteering for Lewis-Manning 17 years ago after I ran the London Marathon for them. I asked if there was anything else that I could do and since then I have been a volunteer driver, delivering patients for Day Hospice.

What’s the best bit of the role?

Meeting people, helping people, making their lives a bit easier.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking of volunteering?

Don’t think about it, just do it! You will feel better with yourself.

With Christmas creeping upon us, it’s time to start thinking about sending Christmas cards to friends, family and colleagues!

We are delighted to offer the community a selection of stunning Lewis-Manning Christmas cards, which can be purchased in our retail shops or via our website.

By purchasing Lewis-Manning Christmas cards you are helping so many local lives in East Dorset and Purbeck.

Visit our website to get your Christmas cards today.

We’re proud of our dedicated and committed team, especially seeing how everyone has dealt with the challenges and adversities that Covid-19 has presented to the charity.

This month we wanted to find out more about Jules Jenkinson, Complementary Therapy Lead.

What’s the best thing about your job?

This is a new service which will be launching soon, which is very exciting!  It is a privilege to work with a range of therapies in such a meaningful way. Helping people live until they die with the highest quality of life.  ‘Touch is eternal’ and ‘Fingerprints’ will not fade from the people/lives we touch’.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever been given ?

Set and live by your own standards along with venturing outside your comfort zone.

Tell us something about yourself that we wouldn’t know

I recently completed my first ultramarathon – 66 miles in 20 hours running around the Isle of Wight and raised £2,500 for a charity.  My first and last ultra!

Describe yourself in 3 words

Honest, kind, impatient.

If you were going to rule the world for the day, what law would you introduce?

Everyone to perform one act of kindness ‘pay it forwards’.

Your best place for a holiday is?

I believe holidays are what you make them home or abroad and the people you share them with. Personally, for me it would be active and adventurous. Most recently though it would be the Seychelles – we were married on Silhouette Island the most beautiful and perfect setting.

Our aim is to help as many local people as possible, who are dealing with a life limiting illness, to live their precious lives well.

There is no charge to attend Lewis-Manning Hospice Care.
