They’re the cream of the crop!

Ten businesses and one individual have been named winners of the first Lyme Regis Business Awards.

Top honours went to Millside, crowned both Restaurant of the Year and Overall Business of the Year.

Owners John and Georgina Baker were self-isolating and unable to attend the awards ceremony.

Instead the couple’s three-year-old daughter, Darcy; friend Jon Golding and staff member Chase Holland collected the award on their behalf.

Nearly 100 entries were received from 51 businesses.

The awards were streamed live to reach the widest possible audience.

The judging, carried out independently by a group of local judges, resulted in some very high scores and close results.

Each judge had up to 100 votes to allocate to each entry.

The judges didn’t know each other’s identity, ensuring every vote cast had no outside influence.

Comments received by the organisers, Marketing West Events, included delight at the range of businesses entering and the overall quality of the entries.

The category winners were

  • Café-Pub-Hospitality Award: Tom’s Lyme Regis
  • Independent Business Award: Pop Up Kitchen
  • Green Business of the Year: Go Eco Cabs
  • New Business of the Year: The Monmouth Pantry
  • Best Service Providing Business: The Lyme Laundrette
  • Restaurant of the Year: Millside
  • Best Customer Service: Fit Again
  • Tourism-Accommodation Award: Jurassic Footgolf
  • Arts, Crafts and Artisans: The Town Mill
  • Local Rising Star: Robin Wylde
  • Community Support Award: Lyme Bay Ladies
  • Overall Business of the Year: Millside

Nigel Reeve, of Marketing West Events, pictured right, said: “I’d like to start by thanking LymeOnline for their fantastic support, help and advice as we took these awards from an idea to reality.

“Also, all the businesses that took the time to enter.

“It shows the level of drive and confidence of these local businesses.

“We said all the way through that these awards were being created to promote the range and quality of local business.

“The aim is simply to encourage people to use the great range of local businesses on their doorstep.

“Hopefully these awards have helped achieve that.”
