Therapist in bid to help 'heal our teens' after survey reveals effect of Covid on young minds

A therapist is on a mission to help ‘heal our teens’ after studies revealed the effect Covid-19 has had on young people.

YoungMinds reported that 80 per cent of young people surveyed reported that the coronavirus pandemic had worsened their mental health.

Nearly nine in ten – 87 per cent – also had feelings of isolation and loneliness.

The survey revealed that of those accessing mental health services before the lockdown, 31 per cent were no longer able to access them.

A further 40 per cent said that they were struggling with mental health but had not sought help.

Now Dorchester-based  Tracy Kimberg, a therapist at Re-Exist, is offering a complimentary assessment for teenagers.

During the assessment, she’ll establish whether the patient will qualify for one of her therapies.

Tracy said: “Through Covid, their mental health has been challenged and threatened.

“Stressed out teenagers may have felt completely overwhelmed with anxiety and other mental health disorders.

“Teenagers were stuck inside during the lockdown, unable to meet friends and get space from family.

“Through my own journey in life, I have experienced the effect that mental health can have and so I have made it my mission to help others.

“I am a firm believer that you can get better, transform your life and change when given the right help and tools.”

Tracy said teenagers also faced the added stress of school worries and exam results.

Across the UK, exams were cancelled for GCSE’s and A-levels, leaving students frustrated and uncertain of their academic future.

According to Ofqual, in England 36 per cent of entries received a lower grade than teachers predicted.

“The worry of the effect on education will be a key factor that causes stress within teenagers,” said Tracy who is a qualified nurse, master practitioner, NLP coach and therapist, time line therapist, hypnotherapist and mind resilience coach.

She specialises in teenagers but can treat anyone who needs help.

Her business, Re-Exist, provides a safe space with the right therapy to help heal so clients can start to live the life they deserve.

Parents of teenagers, worried about their stress, anxiety and other mental health issues, are invited to contact Tracy via her website.
