It’s set to be one of the top summer events on the UK’s hottest and – thanks in part to a certain Harry Redknapp – most famous beach.
Tribeca Events, the Bournemouth-based event producers and promoters, has announced that British soul group, The Real Thing, will be special guests at a brand new soul, Motown and disco event.
Early bird tickets have now gone on sale for ‘Boogie on the Beach’, which takes place on Sandbanks Beach, as part of Sandpolo weekend, on the evening of Friday July 10, from 7pm-1am.
The Real Thing were the most successful soul act in England in the 1970s, with hits including, ‘You to Me Are Everything’, which reached No.1 in the UK singles chart, plus ‘Can’t Get By Without You’, ‘Can You Feel The Force’ and many more.
The band is touring off the back of a new movie playing nationally in cinemas, and a greatest hits album out on Universal Records.
The ‘Boogie on the Beach’ lineup also includes internationally acclaimed ten-piece Motown act, Wonderband, with a ‘back-to-back hits’ show featuring songs from artists including Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Marvin Gaye, and Earth, Wind and Fire.
As a special addition, Brit Award winner Shola Ama will give an exclusive performance, singing a small selection of her favourite soul classics.
They include her cover of Turley Richards’ ‘You Might Need Somebody’, which reached No.4 in the UK chart, remaining in the top 40 for two months, becoming one of 1997’s most successful releases.
The evening of entertainment will begin with London-based flamenco-soul band, Bambaleo, celebrating the music of The Gipsy Kings.
The band’s lead singer is from the French Carmague gipsy family – adding a totally authentic edge to a band that counts HRH Prince of Wales, Richard Branson, David and Victoria Beckham, Henley Regatta and Royal Berkshire Polo Club as clients.
Joshua Simons, of Tribeca Events, pictured left, said: “We’re excited to have reached an agreement with Sandpolo to curate and promote the Friday of this year’s event, which is now in its 13th year.
“Boogie on the Beach will be an action-packed evening of international quality entertainment on one of the most exclusive beaches in the UK.
“Ticket-holders are welcome to enjoy a thrilling afternoon of polo, before dancing the night away at Boogie on the Beach until 1am.
“We look forward to welcoming upwards of 2,000 guests to one of the events of the summer!”
Early bird tickets are on sale now, with general admission tickets starting at £20 per person, and VIP tickets from £50 per person.
