Tribeca Events has signed a five year partnership with Sandpolo, now the largest beach polo event in the world.

The boutique event production and promotions company will be working alongside Sandpolo’s team to curate the entertainment and promotion across Sandpolo weekend.

The event, held on the beach at Sandbanks, Poole, was launched in 2008 by Johnny Wheeler, a former officer in the Household Cavalry.

Also known as the British Beach Polo Championships, it is now entering its 15th year.

More than 6,000 people attended this year’s Sandpolo on September 17 and 18.

Dorset-based Tribeca Events is co-owned by Joshua Simons, Steve Crawford and Benjamin Reynolds.

It has interests in multiple event brands and concepts in the region.

Johnny, Director of  Sandpolo Ltd, said: “We’re excited to formally announce this multi-year partnership with Tribeca Events after such a successful event in September.

“Josh, Ben and Steve have worked with and supported Sandpolo in various ways over the years, and as such we’re confident that the partnership will continue to flourish.

“As a team, we can’t thank our guests enough for sticking with us in 2020/21, which as everyone knows wasn’t a great time to work in events.

“We very much look forward to seeing everyone on the beach in our regular slot, the second weekend of July, for what is shaping up to be another fabulous weekend on Sandbanks Beach in 2022.”

Joshua, pictured left, of Tribeca Events, said: “After a successful rescheduled Sandpolo this past September, we’re delighted to have entered into a multi-year partnership with Sandpolo, taking us to 2026.

“Johnny and his team have established what is now a firm fixture in Dorset’s social calendar.

“We plan to build on that success, bringing world-class sport, entertainment, food and luxury brands to Sandbanks Beach across both days of the championships, next year, and beyond.”

Tickets for the 2022 Sandpolo weekend, on July 8 and 9, are on sale here.

A twist on traditional polo, Sandpolo is played with an oversized orange ball designed not to get lost in the sand but still move at a high speed.

Joshua, of Tribeca Events, has been in the hospitality/nightlife business in the area for 18 years.

He opened his first nightclub, Jimmy’s, when he was 21 years old and also owned VIP nightclub concept PRIVA with outposts in Bournemouth and Barbados.

Together with Steve Crawford, he’s now the Co-owner of Aviary Hospitality Group which comprises Chicken & Blues and Flamingo.

Benjamin Reynolds started his business life as a nightclub promoter with his brand Cocoloco which had multiple weekly parties across the South West.

He was the Co-owner of Bournemouth’s Lost Paradise nightclub, which was a victim of the pandemic, but has hinted that it will be coming back.
