It’s already cost £20 million and won widespread praise – and awards.

Now Bournemouth’s five-star hotel, The Nici, has unveiled the next phase of its multi-million-pound refurbishment.

New luxury spa and fitness facilities, a 28m outdoor heated pool, outdoor activity centre and additional courtyard rooms are set to open in April.

The Nici Spa will feature a 15m heated indoor pool and hydrotherapy pool, alongside a poolside steam room and aromatherapy sauna.

There will also be a relaxation room with crystal energy loungers, and eight treatment rooms, including a treatment room for two.

The Nici Spa will be partnering with award-winning spa brands OTO CBD and OSKIA with a bespoke menu of treatments and holistic therapies.

They include bamboo massage, sound therapy and anti-ageing techniques.

A fully air-conditioned gym will feature state-of-the-art Technogym equipment and personal trainers.

It will also include a studio space for stretching, one-on-one specialist tuition and a variety of fitness and wellbeing classes.

A programme of outdoor group fitness activities is planned, from boardwalk runs to sea swims, paddleboard yoga and beach fitness classes.

A range of lifestyle products, from fashion and watches to books and skincare, will be available from a retail unit.

This Spring will also see the addition of a new 28m feature outdoor pool, complete with more than 60 poolside loungers and cabanas, which can be booked for up to six people.

The heated outdoor palm-green pool is set to make a real splash with submerged seating and an exclusive poolside menu.

The tropical landscaped gardens include The Nici Activity Centre.

It will offer a host of equipment which can be borrowed, free-of-charge, for the day.

The equipment includes bicycles, paddleboards, bodyboards, kayaks, beach games, yoga mats and fitness kit for hours of fun.

Meanwhile, and as the sun sets and the evening kicks in, guests can gather round outdoor sunken fire pits.

These can be reserved for groups to enjoy fireside cocktails and s’mores.

The unveiling of the new additions follow the successful launch of the new hotel concept last June.

The Nici has since received several accolades including being named The Times ‘Seaside Hotel of the Year for 2023’.

It also struck Gold at the DMB Tourism Awards, jointly winning the ‘Large Hotel of the Year’ category.

The West Cliff hotel includes 84 luxury bedrooms, many with sea views, garden hot tub suites, South Beach Restaurant, Bar & Terrace, indoor cinema and meetings and events facilities.

Marcus O’Leary, pictured, General Manager, said: “We are delighted to unveil the next phase of our five-star development as we work to re-define the UK staycation, with a new style of hotel resort.

“The addition of a luxury new spa – Bournemouth’s first – and huge outdoor pool will further transform the hotel into a year-round destination.”

Locals will be able to join The Nici Club, with a limited number of membership options available.

These include the use of the spa and outdoor pool facilities as well as exclusive offers for treatments, cabana reservations, food & drink and more.

To register interest, visit thenici.com/club.

All hotel guests will have full use of the facilities.

Families, or those looking for longer stays, can also enjoy the addition of the hotel’s new Courtyard Rooms.

They come complete with a living room, kitchenette and are available as one-or two-bedroom cottages, with full use of the hotel amenities.

Hotel rates are from £175 per room, per night.

The Nici introduced an entirely new brand and concept to the Nicolas James Group portfolio.

The group, chaired by its owner Nicolas Roach, also includes residential, commercial property & land, financial investments and care homes and assisted living.

Mr Roach, pictured, has already built up the luxury and lifestyle hotel group, Harbour Hotels.

Its 15 hotels include the Christchurch Harbour Hotel & Spa, The Kings Arms in Christchurch and the Southampton Harbour Hotel & Spa.

As well as The Nici, other independent hotels in the group include Avington Park in Winchester and Northbrook Park in Surrey.
