What is my favourite TV show? Anything rugby union related and a film just now and again...

By Staff Reporter editor@dorsetbiznews.co.uk

Published: December 10, 2020 | Updated: 12th December 2020

Each week we shine the spotlight on a member of Dorset’s business community and ask him, or her, for answers to our part fun/part serious questionnaire. This time…

The best bit of his job is people, he switches off outside work by lifting weights, chooses whisky as his favourite smell and looks for positivity in a new employee.

Lloyd Banks, Owner and MD, Rubicon Recruitment Group, takes the 20 Questions’ hotseat.

Question: What is your favourite TV show?

Answer: Anything rugby union related (England won the Quilter Autumn Internationals on December 6…) and a film now and again.

Q: Who would you like to share a car with?

A: A better driver than me and/or a good mechanic.

Q: The best bit of my job is…?

A: People.

Q: And the worst…?

A: Admin.

Q: How do you switch off outside work?

A: Lifting weights.

Q: What’s your favourite smell?

A: Whisky.

Q: Where’s your favourite place in Dorset?

A: 71-73 High Street Poole [offices of Rubicon Recruitment Group].

Q: What advice would you give to anyone starting out on a career?

A: In my experience people rarely want advice, they seek reassurances that what they’re doing/about to do is right, so surround yourself with the right people who’ll answer truthfully.

Q: What’s your favourite animal?

A: Dog.

Q: What gets you angry?

A: Very little.

Q: Do you have a favourite piece of music?

A: No.

Q: What are the qualities you look for in a new employee?

A: Positivity.

Q: What’s your favourite food or dish?

A: Shellfish.

Q: Steamed sponge pudding and custard or a plate of melon?

A: Neither.

Q: Name the best thing about living/working in Dorset?

A: The people.

Q: If you were Prime Minister for the day what would be the first thing you do?

A: Set out an achievable goal, plan how to deliver it, communicate it as effectively as possible to gain “buy-in” and then encourage delivery. Answering less practically – I’d do all I could to dramatically reduce the influence our mainstream media has over the policies that govern us.

Q: What’s your biggest frustration?

A: Having to sleep.

Q:  Where’s your favourite holiday location?

A: Wherever I find myself holidaying.

Q: Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?

A: I don’t. Ten years is too long ahead for me. The now absorbs 80% of my thoughts, the immediate future (three months ahead max) 15% with the past taking up no more than 5%.

Q: What would you like to be remembered for?

A: Challenges I resolved rather than those I created.
