Then don’t be surprised to see red – and black – from today on the 1a route as the locally owned and managed bus operator boosts capacity with six loaned double-deckers.
With high visitor numbers expected to the area, Yellow Buses has arranged for six of Reading Buses’ high capacity double-deckers to spend summer by the sea.
To avoid any confusion they’ve been branded with slogans such as:

“We were really pleased to be able to partner with Reading Buses in order to boost our capacity on our key routes linking Bournemouth and Christchurch for the summer.
“We are extremely grateful for their assistance.”
Robert Williams, Chief Executive Officer of Reading Buses, pictured right, said: “We are delighted to be able to help our friends at Yellow Buses and send a few of our buses on holiday to the coast.
“We’ve made sure they have their sun cream and beach towels so that they can put their wheels up at the end of each day!”
For the technically minded, there are two red double-deckers – fleet numbers 1781/2 – which are 82 seaters and normally employed on a contract for a business park.
The other four – fleet numbers 1783-6 – are 86 seaters and in a black-based livery for operation on services in Newbury.
All six are Scottish built Enviro 400 double-deckers with the latest Euro 6 engines.
Yellow Buses is the south coast’s largest independent bus and coach operator.
It was acquired in a management buyout from French transport group, RATP, in July 2019.
