Nykke has designs on success after qualifying as a finalist in prestigious international awards
An interior designer is hoping it will be third time lucky after qualifying for this year’s SBID International Design Awards.
Nykke Jones Interiors is a finalist in the ‘Show Flats & Developments’ interior design awards category for her Essex show house.
It’s the third year running that the Bournemouth-based interior designer has been named as a finalist.
Nykke, pictured left, who has been settled in Bournemouth since 2006, said: “I’m delighted to be chosen as a finalist again this year.
“To be recognised and selected as part of this incredible cohort is an honour for me.”
The Society of British and International Interior Design (SBID) is the leading British professional member organisation for interior designers.
It was founded in 2009 by Dr Vanessa Brady OBE to serve, promote and protect the profession of interior design in the UK.
Success in the SBID International Design Awards is regarded as demonstrating the highest level of design excellence across the commercial and residential sectors.
Each finalist is evaluated by industry-leading experts for functionality, technical merit, creative delivery and ability to inspire.
The final stage of the judging process includes a public vote which accounts for 30 per cent of the marks.
The award ceremony is on October 22 at the Nobu Hotel Portman Square in London.
Interior Design has been a lifelong passion for Nykke.
Her father was a stained-glass designer while her mother was an avid antique collector.
Nykke said: “I learned from an early age that things can be built to be beautiful, but also with integrity and intention. ”
Growing up initially in Belfast, then London, followed by the USA and travelling the world, she received her BA (Hons) in Interior Architecture & Design at Arts University Bournemouth and launched Nykke Jones Interiors in 2010.
Her design projects have ranged from high-end residential and hotels and bars to office space in locations as diverse as the UK, Ireland, Florida and South Carolina, USA.
Nykke said: “Both as a mum and the child of a big Irish family, I’ve come to appreciate the harmony that a home can bring to a busy life.”
