A Westbourne hair salon can boast one of the UK’s best managers after she secured a finalist place in HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards 2020.

Kimberley Nuttall, Salon Manager at Simone Thomas Hair Salon, is in the running to win the Manager of the Year award, sponsored by Kao Salon Division.

The category celebrates the top six UK salon managers who lead, inspire and motivate a single salon.

HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards, now in their 22nd year, promote professionalism, innovation and excellence.

They also recognise individuals and teams who work tirelessly to raise the profile of the hairdressing industry and make it attractive to new entrants while keeping it at the forefront of customer’s minds.

Award organisers say Kimberley, 35, impressed a host of industry judges with her outstanding management skills and ability to make a team feel valued and inspired with a unique leadership style.

Jayne Lewis-Orr, Executive Director of HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards, said; “This year will have put salon managers’ skills to the test, but Kimberley has clearly risen to the challenge.

“To be named as a finalist in the Manager of the Year category confirms just how exceptional she is.

“Through crafting and nurturing an amazing team and being on top of all the day-to-day details, as well as having a vision for how the salon is experienced, Kimberley has created a salon to be very proud of.

“We wish her the best of luck.”

Kimberley, who has been with Simone Thomas for five years, said: “This year has been something I never imagined we’d see and has really stretched my managerial skills.

“To be recognised in these awards feels wonderful and proof that all the graft is worth it.

“I absolutely love my job and I’m grateful for the continued support and hard work delivered by my team.”

Simone Thomas Hair Salon will find out if it has achieved the top spot at an awards evening on January 25, 2021, at the London Hilton on Park Lane.

Kao Salon Division, sponsors of the Manager of the Year category said: “Managing a successful salon is a labour of love, one that takes patience, creativity and great organisation and communication skills.

“A successful manager leads by example to set the culture of a salon and is integral to the constant development of a business.

“It’s great to see managers like Kimberley Nuttall recognised for their hard work and dedication.”

Currently there are more than 43,000 hair and beauty businesses in the UK, following a 45 per cent increase over the past five years.

It’s reported that hair and beauty businesses also have higher survival rates after five years than many other sectors.

  • Simone Thomas Wellness has received two Global Green Beauty Awards 2020.

The awards celebrate the best in green and clean beauty, reviewing the best beauty products from brands making an active effort to ensure their products are eco-friendly.

Simone Thomas won silver for Best Sustainable Hair Product (The Biotin Haircare Plan) and bronze for Best Vegan Hair Product (The Gingko Haircare Plan).

More than 300 entries were received for the awards.

They were judged by a panel of ex-beauty specialists and the products were selected based on their ability to produce the intended result.
