A watch brand based in Poole has been awarded the highest badge of honour for its outstanding support for the Armed Forces community.

Elliot Brown joins Dorset Council in receiving an Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award which is recognised by the UK Government.

It is the first watch brand to receive the award in the nine years the scheme has been running.

The prestigious award identifies businesses that employ and support those who serve, veterans and their families.

Elliot Brown actively supports, and recruits, from the local and wider military communities with half its workforce comprised of military veterans or spouses.

Founders Ian Elliot and Alex Brown have also actively raised significant funds, in excess of £630,000, for Armed Forces associations and charities.

The duo personally attend events and are committed to mentoring veterans and serving military personnel.

A total of 156 organisations have been recognised this year as part of the Employer Recognition Scheme.

They range from councils and charities to blue light services, retail and insurance companies.

Elliot Brown Watches joins the likes of Morgan Stanley, IBM, Admiral Group, Groundwork and St Thomas’ NHS Trust in picking up the top-level Gold Award.

Ian Elliot, Co-founder of Elliot Brown, said: “As founders of Elliot Brown Watches we’re not from military backgrounds.

“We didn’t set out to become a major supporter of the military community, it has been an entirely natural process having seen first-hand the effects of forces’ life on individuals, families and communities.

“Giving back, supporting where we can and being flexible feels the right way to run the business.

“To be recognised at this level strengthens our bond with the military community that has won our hearts and together we’re thriving thanks to the spirit that our veteran employees and spouses bring to work each day.

“They are amazing humans, resourceful, diligent, highly spirited and make us feel very lucky.

“We are committed to supporting our employees and the wider local Armed Forces community as part of our mentoring and fundraising programmes.

“We couldn’t be any prouder.”
