They’re the three words that the co-owners of a Bournemouth-based  business have been waiting over a year to say – and put into action.

Let’s Play Cricket!

Now the long-awaited wish of Dave Fitzgerald and Scott Charlton, of Lashings World, looks set to happen this summer.

It follows the announcement that Hampshire Cricket and Lashings World XI have formed a new partnership.

It will see the Hampshire Cricket Foundation become the official charity of Lashings World XI in 2021.

The partnership will be underpinned by two brand new events which will arrive at The Ageas Bowl later this summer.

Both events will help to raise funds for the Hampshire Cricket Foundation, the official charity of Hampshire Cricket and The Ageas Bowl.

The first partnership event, a Sir Gordon Greenidge Golf Day, will take place at The Ageas Bowl’s Boundary Lakes Golf Course on Wednesday July 21.

Gordon Greenidge, a former Hampshire and West Indies star, will be on hand to support the event with a range of sporting personalities also set to feature.

The second event is a charity fundraising fixture featuring a Hampshire Cricket Foundation Invitational XI and a Lashings World XI.

A T20 match between the two sides will take place at The Ageas Bowl on Saturday August 28.

The fixture, which will feature a host of cricketing legends, will be one of two games played on the day as the Southern Vipers take on South East Stars in a T20 clash on the same afternoon.

Tickets for the double-header are available now, priced from £10 for adults and £5 for U17s with all proceeds going to the Hampshire Cricket Foundation.

David Mann, Hampshire Cricket Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted to announce this new partnership with Lashings World XI and their support for the Hampshire Cricket Foundation.

“We’re extremely proud of the work that the foundation is doing across our community.

“Partnerships such as this will enable us to increase the reach and impact of the foundation.

“We look forward to working with the Lashings team through the course of the summer.”

Scott Charlton, Lashings World Co-Owner, said: “We are delighted to be involved in this collaboration with Hampshire Cricket and The Ageas Bowl, raising funds for the Hampshire Cricket Foundation.

“As one of the UK’s leading fundraising vehicles we can’t wait to bring our expertise and, of course, our legends from around the world to help us in our endeavours.

“It is a really exciting time for cricket, and we can’t wait to be involved.”

Co-Owners of Lashings World, Dave and Scott, pictured with Harry Redknapp, are both born and bred in Bournemouth.

Scott has hosted thousands of events, comedy nights and gigs over the last 30 years and is well known on the comedy circuit.

Lashings World has its headquarters in Bournemouth.

Many of its staff come from the area while local charities supported by Lashings World include Dorset Children’s Foundation, Macmillan Caring Locally and the Steve Bernard Foundation.

Lashings World organise a home-county event every year where they take over Chapel Gate with 11 cricket legends.

The event, which is always a sell-out, offers corporate hospitality for businesses as well as an invitational side to play against the Lashings World XI.

There is also complimentary Tier 3 coaching in the morning for children and young people to enjoy.

The business was acquired as a brand by Dave and Scott in 2018.

It has been playing cricket, hosting legends, engaging audiences, building branding and providing entertainment across the globe for more than 30 years.

Squad members include Sir Curtly Ambrose, Devon Malcolm, Courtney Walsh, Saqlain Mushtaq and John Emburey.

Lashings World events host the likes of Matt Le Tissier, Harry Redknapp, Frank Bruno, Phil Tufnell, Paul Merson and many more sporting personalities in locations ranging from local cricket clubs to five-star resorts.

More than £230,000.00 was raised for charities, cricket clubs and associations during the last World Tour with complimentary Tier 3 coaching academies offered at every game.
