The boss of a Dorset shopping centre says his team are ‘over the moon’ after scooping an international award.

Poole’s Dolphin Shopping Centre won the Corporate Social Responsibility category in the 2019 International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC) Solal Marketing Awards, held in London.

It received the award for its Eco Hub, a free, creative space that celebrates sustainability in the shopping centre and the wider Poole community.

The award category specifically recognised innovation and achievement for projects which aim to benefit the shopping centre catchment area, either the local or wider community.

John Grinnell, Centre Manager, said: “The whole Dolphin team are over the moon to have won this prestigious global award which are like the ‘Oscars’ of the shopping centre world.

“Our determination to make the Dolphin Shopping Centre as sustainable as possible is an ongoing and continued effort by the team and so it’s brilliant to have all our hard work and effort recognised on such a big stage.”

The Eco Hub, launched in 2018, is a free community space that customers and local organisations can use in a variety of ways.

It has already made a significant contribution to the Dolphin Centre’s commitment to sustainability.

The Eco Hub is located in the lower mall of the centre and is available during the centre’s regular opening hours.
