Tips on growing your business by bootstrapping will be shared at this month’s Startup Grind Bournemouth.

Bootstrapping is when a business starts up without the help of venture capital firms or angel investment.

It involves ploughing any money earned from customers back into the business.

James Lewis, Co-founder of Pro2col, will talk about his experience of bootstrapping and why businesses should be using this strategy to achieve more organic and sustainable growth.

In 2003, James co-founded his managed file transfer business, Pro2col using the method of bootstrapping to grow the business.

Since then the company has delivered file transfer solutions to over 800 customers in more than 30 countries throughout the UK, mainland Europe and North America.

The company now has a team of more than 20 people operating from offices in Bournemouth.

Entrepreneurs attending the Startup Grind talk can expect to hear about:

  • The drawbacks of bootstrapping
  • Why you should bootstrap your business
  • The importance of finding a niche
  • Choosing the right business partners.

James said: “Many startups seek investment and meteoric growth from the onset, however in a bid to achieve this, it is easy to become stretched thin financially.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to speak at Startup Grind Bournemouth and share useful tips into how to grow your business in a way that is organic and with a view to long term success.”
