Luxurycare Group, which has five care homes in Bournemouth and Poole, has expanded its portfolio.

The care home group has purchased its sixth home, Meyrick Rise in Meyrick Park, Bournemouth.

It now plans to improve and expand the home which has been renamed Kingsman House.

The Branksome Wood Road nursing home was rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission earlier this year.

It can accommodate up to 75 people but currently has less than 40.

Current residents and staff will stay on, but new residents are expected to join as Luxurycare make improvements.

The care home group is looking to expand the staff team accordingly.

Mandy Kittlety, Managing Director at Luxurycare Group, said: “I already know this beautiful home well, as not only have several of the Luxurycare team worked there previously, but my own grandmother lived here many years ago.

“Sam Hoskins, our Operations Director, was an Interim Manager before joining us at Seabourne House, Southbourne, in 2008 while our Facilities Director, Christina Barrett, was the Head Chef at Meyrick Rise from 2006 to 2009.

“It’s an emotional return for all of us.

“And we’re excited about expanding the team further and bringing many improvements to this environment.”

The home, which has recently undergone a refurbishment by the previous owners, has five communal lounges, a dining room, a bar-lounge and a beauty spa, as well as a landscaped garden and patio area.

Luxurycare’s plans include reopening the top floor, which has been decommissioned up to now, and reopening the hair salon and cinema.

Ashley Liddington, who provides the in-house chaplaincy service at Luxurycare, is also excited at revamping the chapel to create a new multi-faith chapel.

The team have already begun exterior works rejuvenating the driveways and brickwork and are also planning on an extensive project to make the garden more accessible.

The centrally located home, which is close to parks, Bournemouth Gardens, and the beach, has been purchased from ‘brighterkind’, a national care group with more than 20 homes across the country.

Kingsman House has a long history of care, dating back to its beginnings as St Joseph’s Convalescent home in 1888.

The current building, rebuilt in 1986, has served as a convent and a care centre and finally a care home over the years.
