Ogmore Valley Male Voice Choir, a celebrated choir from South Wales, will perform in Bournemouth to raise money for local cancer patients.

The 30-strong choir, from the ex-mining valley in Mid-Glamorgan, will sing at St Peter’s Church on Saturday, 2 November, with all proceeds supporting the Dorset Cancer Care Foundation (DCCF).

The choir, which marked its 40th anniversary last year, has a strong reputation, having performed at notable venues like The Royal Albert Hall. Their free performance is set to be a highlight for the town, with ticket sales supporting local families affected by cancer.

The event came about after choir members reached out to Bournemouth’s mayor, Councillor George Farquhar, offering to perform in aid of a charity of his choice. George said: “I was pleasantly surprised when I received the choir’s message. Their offer to perform for a local cause was a gift we couldn’t pass up.

“The DCCF provides vital support to families in Dorset dealing with cancer, and they were thrilled to hear about the choir’s offer. St Peter’s Church will be a fitting venue, and I have no doubt it will be a night to remember.”

Phil Davies, the choir’s secretary, added: “We’re excited to perform in Bournemouth for the first time. Our programme includes a mix of traditional Welsh songs and modern classics, led by our talented musical team, including Eira Paskin, Gareth Waite, Deb Lewis, and Catrin Jenkin.”

He continued: “Our choir has raised significant funds for numerous causes over the years, and we are proud to support DCCF and the families it helps.”

The concert will take place from 7-9pm at St Peter’s Church in Hinton Road, Bournemouth. Tickets are £10 per person and include refreshments.
