Each week we shine the spotlight on a member of Dorset’s business community and ask him, or her, for answers to our part fun/part serious questionnaire. This time…
Her favourite food is any fish dish, she gets angry at litter, would like to share a fast car with Idris Elba and wishes to be remembered for making a fantastic feature film.
Lynn Coleman, Producer at DAL Productions Ltd, takes the 20 Questions’ hotseat.
Question: What is your favourite TV show?
Answer: Hannibal starring Mads Mikkelsen. Very compelling and truly shocking!
Q: Who would you like to share a car with?
A: We are working with a motor racing team at the moment and Idris Elba has caught my eye because he has just starred in a motoring series on Quibi. Would need to be a fast car though.
Q: The best bit of my job is…?
A: Our sheer variety of TV and film projects means we get to meet so many interesting people which I love.
Q: And the worst…?
A: Waiting for broadcasters and distributors to get back to us. I’m not a patient person!
Q: Who was your childhood hero?
A: My Dad because he was very much the action man. We were always climbing trees and jumping off the high board at the swimming pool. I learnt that girls can do anything boys could.
Q: What’s your favourite smell?
A: Coffee.
Q: Where’s your favourite place in Dorset?
A: Well, living at the beach in Southbourne is a great start. I love the social buzz in the centre of Bournemouth at night.
Q: What advice would you give to anyone starting out on a career?
A: Network as much as you possibly can and as widely as you can. It’s amazing how your network can open unexpected doors in business, as we’ve found ourselves.
Q: What was your first record/CD?
A: ‘Sugar Sugar’ by The Archies. I found out later it was also my husband David’s first record purchase as well!
Q: What gets you angry?
A: Litter. Grrrrr. I take my own litter picker with me when we walk the dog and usually fill a carrier bag.
Q: Do you have a favourite piece of music?
A: The theme tune to The Persuaders always gives me goose bumps.
Q: What are the qualities you look for in a new employee?
A: Initiative and follow through.
Q: What’s your favourite food or dish?
A: Any fish dish.
Q: Steamed sponge pudding and custard or a plate of melon?
A: Steamed sponge pudding and custard is one of my favourites.
Q: Name the best thing about living/working in Dorset?
A: The people. We have found the people we have met here are generally more collaborative, and open to new ideas. Must be the sea air!
Q: If you were Prime Minister for the day what would be the first thing you do?
A: Increase the fines for littering.
Q: What’s your biggest frustration?
A: In business, the lack of a fast train between Bournemouth and London. It would make such a difference.
Q: Where’s your favourite holiday location?
A: South of France. We have got to know the area pretty well through business and looking forward to holidaying there soon. It’s also a great driving destination.
Q: Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?
A: Still banging on about stuff, just ten years older.
Q: What would you like to be remembered for?
A: For making a fantastic feature film that audiences love, one which will be remembered for having a profound story and a great inspirational message. No pressure then…
