Strategic Solutions, the Bournemouth-based independent chartered financial planners, are celebrating after surpassing the £200,000 landmark in donations from its Community Foundation.
Since being established five years ago, the foundation has supported more than 90 charities and organisations across the South Coast, all with the aim of having a positive impact in the communities where their clients live, work and take part in recreational activities.
The foundation’s primary aim is to provide grants to small, grassroots groups who are facing funding challenges but have the potential to create real change with limited resources.
One of the local causes that the Community Foundation has recently supported is The Colour Works Foundation. The team were pleased to donate £2,000 to the community based charity which aims to help disadvantaged young people build their emotional intelligence and enable them to make better choices for themselves in the future.
Liz Davies, CEO at The Colour Works Foundation expressed her gratitude for the generous donation and explained how the donation would support their work helping young people in Bournemouth. “Through our ‘building self-belief’ programme young people are given skills to understand themselves, understand others, develop decision-making and improve their communication, but most of all they leave the course knowing their own value”.
The team were also pleased to support West Berkshire based charity Swings & Smiles with the purchase of a new sensory swing. Hannah Waugh, Fundraising and Impact Coordinator said “We’re really grateful for the support of Strategic, the funding of our new sensory swing will allow us to take our sensory services into the local community in order to make it more accessible and fun!”
In December 2023, the foundation initiated the Christmas Crackers campaign, dedicated to supporting various local appeals. Across thirteen days, they actively backed different local causes, shedding light on their significance. These endeavours spanned from toy appeals to food bank donations, gathering widespread local appreciation, particularly during the festive season.
The committee is committed to helping more local charities over the coming year helping to support and benefit as many as possible.
