Catriona Bryant, a clinical audiology scientist with over 19 years of experience in the NHS, has launched a new business offering private home visits.

Based in Poole, Coastal Clarity will deliver earwax removal and ear health services and advice to residents across the BCP area.

Business shouldn’t be hard to come by – NHS figures suggest up to 2.3 million people a year are in need of earwax treatment, with telltale symptoms including earache, irritation and hearing loss.

“Our patients have been appreciative of the home visit service,” said Catriona.

“We’re more relaxed in our own homes, so it’s been a real positive.

“I can also spend longer with the patient, whereas you might feel rushed at an appointment in clinic and have the hassle of getting there.”

Coastal Clarity will consult with patients on the best method of wax removal for the individual – from microsuction (a small vacuum that sucks wax from the ear) to electronic irrigation (gently circulating water into the ear).

“We always take the time to chat and go through any ear history with a consultation.

“This not only better informs the patient, but it helps us determine what procedure would be the most effective.

“Or in some cases, it helps us understand if we can’t give a treatment for any reason.

“If your ears feel blocked or irritated, then we can come and see you for a consultation and treatment.

“We’ve been seeing adult patients of all ages and visiting them at flexible hours to avoid any downtime.”
