His favourite smell is the sea air, he’d like to be remembered for being a good Dad and – as a proud Cornishman – gets angry at people who put the cream on first (scones) and chooses a ‘proper Cornish pasty’, and in Cornwall, as his favourite food. 

Lewis Barr, Marketing and Commercial Director, Frettens Solicitors, takes the ‘hot seat’ for our popular 20 Questions.

Question: What is your favourite TV show?

Answer: I unfortunately don’t get the time to watch a lot of television these days, and when I do, it’s usually CBeebies in the early hours of the morning. As much as I enjoy Bluey and Andy’s Dinosaur Adventures in particular, I’d probably have to say Peep Show is my all-time favourite. I watched FAR too much of it at university.

Q: Who would you like to share a car with?

A: Stuart Broad.

Q: The best bit of my job is…?

A: I get to be nosey.

Q: And the worst?

A: Tough one, as I’m generally a pretty glass half full person. I suppose I find any admin stuff pretty dull.

Q: Who was your childhood hero?

A: My Dad. Boring (and probably common) answer I know, but it’s true. Followed by Ian Wright and Jack Russell.

Q: What’s your favourite smell?

A: The sea air. No competition.

Q: Where’s your favourite place in Dorset?

A: You mean apart from the A35 heading West to Cornwall?!

We are spoiled for choice, aren’t we? Anywhere on the beach that I can park up the campervan with the family.

Q: What advice would you give to anyone starting out on a career?

A: Listen and read.

Q: What was your first record/CD?

A: I can’t actually remember. Thinking back to some of the first albums I remember playing in my room, I’d love to say it was one of the cooler ones like ‘Different Class’ by Pulp, or ‘Everything Must Go’ by Manic Street Preachers.

However, I have a terrible feeling it was actually ‘Three Lions’. I genuinely thought it was coming home when I was ten. Tragic.

Q: What gets you angry?

A: People who put the cream on first. Heathens.

Q: Do you have a favourite piece of music?

A: ‘Something’ by The Beatles. My wife walked down the aisle to it and I can’t hear it without smiling as I remember the moment I turned around to see her.

Q: What are the qualities you look for in a new employee?

A: Someone who can speak passionately about anything…and a sense of humour.

Q: What’s your favourite food or dish?

A: A proper Cornish pasty. In Cornwall. Did I mention I’m from Cornwall? Haha. That said, I gave up meat a few years ago though, so it would have to be a veggie one these days.

Q: Steamed sponge pudding and custard or a plate of melon?

A: Is that even a question? Has anyone ever said melon? Can I have ice cream AND custard?

Q: Name the best thing about living/working in Dorset?

A: Proximity to the beautiful coastline.

Q: If you were Prime Minister for the day what would be the first thing you do?

A: Definitely write a list.

It would have to be something to address inequality of opportunity, although I’m not sure that is something that could be solved in a day, sadly.

Q: What’s your biggest frustration?

A: Not having enough time to fit everything (and everyone) in.

Q:  Where’s your favourite holiday location?

A: Thailand. Only because Cornwall doesn’t really count as a holiday.

Q: Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?

A: On a beach with my family.

Q: What would you like to be remembered for?

A: Being a good Dad.
