South West IT (SW-IT), based in Weymouth’s Granby Trading Estate, has successfully acquired Naked Telecom Ltd, a prominent telecommunications company founded in Sherborne.

The acquisition is aimed at enhancing SW-IT’s service portfolio by integrating Naked Telecom’s telecommunications expertise with its own IT solutions.

This strategic move will see both companies continue to operate under their existing brands, enabling SW-IT to leverage Naked Telecom’s advanced telecommunications infrastructure. The founders of Naked Telecom, Carl Cochrane and Richard Crabb, will remain involved as consultants, ensuring a smooth transition.

Andy Hardy, Director at SW-IT and Naked Telecom, expressed his optimism: “We are excited about the future and the opportunities this acquisition presents. Our commitment to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction remains unwavering.”

The acquisition is expected to expand SW-IT’s capabilities, offering improved pricing and connectivity solutions for customers across the region. As part of the integration, SW-IT directors Andy Hardy and Adam Comben, along with director Garth Johns, will also take on new roles within Naked Telecom.

Mickey Jones, Chief Executive at DJ Property, which is a client and landlord of SW-IT, welcomed the news: “This acquisition combines over a decade of telecommunications expertise with state-of-the-art IT solutions. We are pleased to hear that both brands will operate from the SW-IT head office on the Granby Trading Estate.”

A key highlight of the acquisition is the companies’ continued focus on supporting the community. Andy Hardy noted: “We are committed to maintaining the high standards both companies are known for. A percentage of profits from both brands will be invested back into the community to help fund local projects and services, something we are very passionate about.”
