A charity’s first-ever gala ball proved a roaring success by raising a magnificent £37,000.

The Stable Family Home Trust held its ‘Wonderball’ charity fundraiser at the Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott Hotel.

It celebrated the charity’s work through a range of live entertainment including the ‘Wonderband’ nine-piece Stevie Wonder and Motown band.

The event also featured fundraising games and an auction with prizes including golf with Harry Redknapp, a luxury penthouse stay and fishing with Paul Whitehouse.

The money raised will go towards the much-needed renovation of the charity’s Aspire Day Services in Bisterne near Ringwood.

It provides a range of facilities for adults with learning disabilities, offering them the opportunity to gain new skills and work experience, meet new friends and gain independence.

Tracey Hickford, Fund Development Officer, said: ‘’We are extremely humbled and encouraged by the generosity and kindness of everyone, especially during these difficult times.

“These funds will have a profound impact on the lives of some of the most extraordinary people you will ever meet.

“From the bottom of our hearts we would like to thank everyone who helped, donated or supported the event in any way.”

The Stable Family Home Trust, based in Hampshire & Dorset, was established in 1980 by a group of families whose young adult children had learning disabilities.

Today, they run a range of supported living, residential, and day services for adults with learning disabilities.
