Integrated Health Projects (IHP), the main construction contractor for University Hospitals Dorset (UHD), hosted a charity quiz night in Bournemouth on Thursday, raising £2,075 for local cancer care.
The event took place at The Village Hotel, where IHP and NHS staff came together to support oncology teams at the Jigsaw Unit of Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
More than 90 quiz enthusiasts participated, helping to raise funds both in person and through IHP’s online fundraiser. In addition to the quiz, the evening featured a ‘tower’ building challenge, inspired by the construction industry, with Jenga providing plenty of competitive spirit.
The top team, subcontractor WP Portsmouth’s ‘Beasts of the Breast’, walked away with certificates and a selection of wines for their victory.
Reflecting on the event, IHP project director Bruce Preston said: “This evening was a significant celebration of the progress IHP have made with the transformation team on the BEACH Building over the last four years, with this being the third quiz night.
“We have been able to bring together teams from the new projects under IHP and Darwin, promoting the continued support of the UHD community.”
IHP’s social value manager, Helen Denham, also commented on the success: “We are delighted the evening has raised over £2,000 that is to be directed to the UHD Cancer Support teams. This is especially rewarding as we have colleagues and friends who have and are benefitting from their awesome care.”
In recent years, IHP’s fundraising efforts have generated more than £4,828 for University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity, with funds contributing to the purchase of a robotic tilt table for stroke recovery. The proceeds from the latest quiz will go towards supporting the Cancer Care Team.
Hayley Harris, corporate fundraiser for University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity, praised IHP’s efforts: “It’s always amazing to see how the IHP team make this quiz night like no other.
“Not only are they working hard to build our new BEACH Building that will transform care for Dorset, they have nailed their fundraising support for our staff, patients and people in the local community.”
