TDSi, an integrated access control and security manufacturer, has welcomed Samuel Annear to its Software Development Team for a one-year placement.

Samuel, currently a Computing Studies student at Bournemouth University, joins the team in Poole, Dorset.

TDSi has a long history of supporting university placements and apprenticeships, demonstrating its commitment to nurturing future security professionals.

Tina Baker, Software Project Manager at TDSi, said: “We are delighted to welcome Samuel to the TDSi team as our new placement student.

“While we design and manufacture physical access control and integrated security solutions, Software Development plays a key role in this.

“Samuel will experience the demands and rewards of working in a commercial business environment along with technical development, whilst our whole team will benefit from his fresh perspective and new ideas.”

Samuel is eager to enhance his programming skills by working with experienced programmers and tackling large software projects.

He brings experience from various university projects, events, and extracurricular hackathons, as well as teamwork skills gained from previous roles as a bartender and team leader.

Samuel said: “The idea of working on a large piece of software was interesting to me, learning how everything links together. Working at TDSi will help to expand my experience in a team environment.”

During his placement, Samuel will assist in the development of TDSi’s GARDiS software, adding new features and ensuring its reliability for customers.

Samuel believes the success of TDSi and its products is due to excellent team communication and a supportive work environment: “This means that a high standard of work can be maintained, resulting in a successful company and workspace.”

TDSi’s collaboration with Bournemouth University has been fruitful, with several students joining the team after graduation.

Tina Baker added: “We maintain a very active relationship with the university and passionately believe that supporting upcoming talent is vital not only for our business and the security sector but also for the wider UK economy.

“I can testify to this from first-hand experience – I was a Bournemouth University student and now head up our software R&D team!

“There are huge opportunities for talented young professionals to gain their skills and training through placements and ultimately to make a big impression on the security industry.”
