The team at Bridge Health & Wellbeing have announced their charity of the year, and it’s Chill Dorset – a not-for-profit offering sea swimming courses to those with long-term health conditions.
So far more than 80 people have benefited from their courses, which are delivered at a gentle pace by trained coaches to help them enjoy the therapeutic benefits of spending time in the sea.
Success stories have included people getting back into work, rediscovering a love of physical activity, and enjoying reduced pain and improved mental health.
Louise O’Connell, co-founder and Pilates teacher at Bridge Health & Wellbeing, said: “This year, we were keen to support a small, local charity making a difference to people right here in Christchurch.
“Chill operates from Avon Beach, which is just minutes from the clinic, and we have a personal connection with one of the volunteers.
“It’s amazing to hear her talk about what a difference their support makes.”
Louise and the team have put a collection box in their reception on Bridge Street, Christchurch to encourage donations from clients.
They’re also planning a number of fundraising events throughout the year.
Jo Cox, an experienced cold water swimmer and volunteer coach at Chill, added: “We’re incredibly grateful to Bridge & Health Wellbeing for choosing us as their charity of the year.
“We rely on donations from local companies, other charities and organisations like Active Dorset to be able to make a difference in local people’s lives.”
