Dorset Mind is teaming up with charity partners Maidmans Moving and Storage, Enterprise and Upton Tree Services again to collect and carefully recycle Christmas trees from homes in the BCP area.
For a £10 donation, the charity’s dedicated volunteers will work alongside the teams at Maidmans and Enterprise to collect trees between January 5 and 6, after the festive period draws to a close.
To avoid sending the trees to landfill, Upton Tree Services were brought on board by Dorset Mind to help chip and recycle the trees.
All waste will be reused as sawmill timber or wood energy (biofuel).
Last year’s inaugural campaign raised more than £5,000 for the charity.
The money helped provide vital financial assistance for its 1-2-1 and group support that helps combat the mental health crisis across Dorset.
This year, the charity aims to double the amount as it knows there will be a considerable increase in people needing support for mental health problems, exasperated by the cost of living crisis.
Steven Webber, Maidmans’ Director, pictured left, said: “We are delighted to assist this amazing charity once again, which is so close to our hearts, with the collection of the Christmas trees, raising much-needed donations.
“This time around, we have the capacity to collect more trees as we welcome Dorset Mind’s volunteers to work alongside our drivers.”
