A herbal pet care brand which launched a foundation in 2018 to show its commitment to ongoing charitable giving has donated £2,000 to Dorset Search Dogs.
The Dorwest Foundation helps dogs and cats that are in need of care, health and quality of life improvement.
It also supports dogs that are trained to help humans either in an assistance, rescue or medical capacity.
Poundbury-based Dorwest Herbs donates to established animal welfare charities on an annual basis through the sales of special foundation products, Keeper’s Mix® & Keeper’s Mix® Sensitive.
Ten per cent of profits from every sale is donated.
Dorset Search Dogs assists the police, coastguard and other search and rescue teams looking for missing people in the South.
Four of the 45 dogs qualified in the UK are in Dorset.
All dogs are looked after as pets with the dedicated team of handlers, dogs and operational supports on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Area search dogs must be able to demonstrate day and night searches with three strangers subject to national assessments and are qualified for two years.
Dorset Search Dogs is not government funded and relies on donations from members of the public and local businesses.
