Charlotte Jewell, Head of Social Media at Fireworx, tackles your questions on social media.

Q: The idea of a social media strategy can seem overwhelming to some businesses. What are your five tips or insights to help simplify?
Well you need to start with a repeatable and achievable plan and understand how you’re measuring it.
Think about your audience.
Which platform are they using? It can seem obvious but if you’re a B2B brand is Tik Tok really worth your while, or Clubhouse?

Mix it up, try it out but make decisions on where to invest your time.
What’s right on Instagram rarely works on Linkedin.
1: Think like the best brands. You need to be memorable, useful, relevant, different or entertaining.
2: Break your social into different containers. Think about thought leadership, building trust through case studies, culture, news.
3: Keep an eye on what your key competitors are doing and saying.
4: Don’t just talk about yourself. There needs to be a variety of content to keep your audience interested.
5: Create engagement, ask questions. It can be as simple as that. This is a great way to communicate directly with your target market and hear their opinions. Have a conversation.
Q: What are the best ways to get insight, and if you can only focus on one type of content to do well with, which would you recommend?
Start with your customer focus.
Who are they?
Where are they?
What are their challenges?
Why buy from you not someone else?
If you got to spend just 15 seconds with a prospect, how would you convince them to buy from you, and not a competitor?
Research can be helpful.
Ask people either in person, on the phone, online or buy data.
Also a mindset of just try it and see. Learn and move on fast.
And to get that right it’s not really about how much you spend. It’s about how well you listened.
What do they ‘need’ from your product, and what are the ‘nice to haves’?
We’re looking to make customers’ purchasing decisions easy, by giving them what they asked for.
Q: What is good content, and how does one create good, emotive content across all your platforms?
Good content is really dependent on what customers want from your product or service and how well you help them solve their problems or achieve their aspirations.
We’re looking to make the brand relevant to customers’ wants and needs.
To state my previous mantra – Good content needs to be relevant, memorable, entertaining or useful.
