The Lulworth Estate has been confirmed as the main sponsor of this year’s Purbeck Art Weeks Festival (PAW).
The celebration of art, music and community takes place across the Isle of Purbeck for two weeks from May 25 to June 9.
Painters, sculptors, textile artists, metalworkers, glass artists, woodworkers, ceramicists – and more – will be opening their studio doors to welcome visitors.
The festival will also feature a large number of exhibitions.
David Hyde’s work will feature at Rollington Barn.
Rollington Barn, near Corfe Castle, is serving as the hub and will host PAW’s collective exhibition, featuring eight new artists alongside artwork created by young people involved in the Purbeck Young Artists programme.
The pop-up studio in the courtyard will have free daily demonstrations, workshops, and talks by PAW artists from 11am to 3.30pm.
Evenings will see music concerts and other events including performances by ensembles and musicians such as Gawain Glenton, I Fagiolini, the Fieri Consort, Helen Charlston and Toby Carr and the vocal ensemble The Gesualdo Six.
In addition, sculptor Philip Jackson, PAW’s President, will be speaking on The Changing Face of Beauty and The Purbeck Poets will have an open mic poetry night.
Laurel Hart, PAW’s Director of Communications, said: “We are thrilled to unveil the diverse line-up of concerts, events, and experiences awaiting visitors at PAW 2024.
“There really is something for everyone to enjoy as we celebrate creativity in all its forms.
“We’re excited to share that a remarkable 24 ft ‘Water Bottle Tree’ – made by Purbeck-based sculptor Robert Marshall – will be making an appearance at various secret locations across the two weeks, with a strong message on environmental awareness.”
Charlotte Heath, PAW’s Chair, said: “We’re delighted to announce that The Lulworth Estate will be the main sponsor of this year’s Festival.
“This support also allows us to continue to grow our Purbeck Young Artists project, offering young people free workshops in their schools.”
James Weld, of The Lulworth Estate, said: “We are delighted for Lulworth to be involved in fostering the wealth of artistic talent we have in Purbeck.
“We hope that our contribution will help to encourage many more, particularly the young, to take the opportunity of the Purbeck Art Weeks Festival to show everyone what they can achieve.”
