A new head office and ambitious growth plans, including the creation of more jobs, are on the cards after a world-leading firm secured a seven-figure funding package from NatWest.
Specialist medical equipment manufacturer DDC Dolphin Limited uses technology to reduce the spread of infectious diseases within healthcare settings.
The Poole-based company has allocated a significant amount of the funds to develop a new facility in the town.
It will comprise an assembly and warehouse building, loading facilities, a two-storey modern office building and a car park.
Work began on the site in June with the development expected to be complete by summer 2022.
DDC Dolphin specialises in human waste management and sluice room requirements that control the spread of disease.
The company is a world leader in the provision of advanced infection control equipment.
Its new building will use energy-efficient materials and has been designed to achieve a top EPC rating.
The remaining funds will help to bolster the medical firm’s ambitious growth plans which are largely focused on sustainability and creating local jobs.
The business intends to add to its almost-100 team with a strong recruitment drive planned for late-2022.
Brian Calder, Managing Director, pictured right, said: “The development of the new site is well underway and, with the help of NatWest, we’re driving forward our green ambitions while also creating new opportunities for the local area.
“We will continue to focus on our core market, which is the care home and hospital sectors.
“However, we are also keen to develop our consumables offering in non-medical settings such as schools, health clubs and beauticians, where awareness of the need for infection control has massively increased since the global pandemic hit.
“The new site will go a long way in helping us to achieve this.”
Mark Dancer, Relationship Director at NatWest, said: “Working on this deal alongside Brian and his team has been fantastic.
“The management team at DDC Dolphin has been in place for a long time and Martin Priest, the company founder, has guided the business through all types of economic conditions.
“The business has been historically profitable and has a wide range of skills in-house.
“Its offering has also grown throughout the pandemic, and is set to benefit from wider increased awareness of the importance of infection control, so it’s great to play a small part in aiding their expansion plans.”
Founded in 1991, DDC Dolphin exports machines and consumables across the world.
The company manufactures and supplies medical pulp macerators, incontinence product macerators, bedpan washer disinfectors, UV air purifiers, stainless steel furniture, sluice room consumables and an antimicrobial coating that protects surfaces for up to six months each time.
DDC Dolphin is one of only three companies in the world specialising in the manufacture of medical pulp macerators.
The hands-free technology makes it safer to dispose of human waste.
