The Dorset Ginger Company, based in Poole, has achieved the prestigious title of Great Taste Producer after impressing judges at this year’s Great Taste Awards.

Their Apple Juice with a Ginger Kick was one of the standout products, adding to a growing list of award-winning beverages from the company.

The Dorset Ginger Company’s journey to this accolade has been marked by consistent success at the Great Taste Awards, where their products have been recognised in three out of the last five years.

Previous winners include Dorset Ginger Original, Dorset Ginger Extra Strong, and Rhubarb with an Extra Kick in 2022, as well as Dorset Ginger Extra Strong with Cinnamon and Raspberry with a Hint of Ginger last year.

The Great Taste Awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, are highly respected in the food and drink industry.

Products are blind-tasted by expert judges, ensuring that only the best flavours earn recognition. This year, a staggering 13,672 products were assessed.

Timi Good, co-owner of The Dorset Ginger Company, expressed her delight at the recognition: “We’re absolutely thrilled that our drinks have performed so well in the Great Taste Awards, and it’s an honour to now be recognised as Great Taste Producers.

“This is a well-respected scheme, and it’s a real boost to the company.”

The judges described the Apple Juice with a Ginger Kick as “an enticing, cloudy juice with a gentle aroma… enhanced by the natural spicy kick of well-judged ginger, bringing complexity and rounded length to this tasty juice.”

Known for their use of the finest ginger and ‘not from concentrate’ fruit juices, The Dorset Ginger Company prides itself on creating drinks free from artificial flavours, preservatives, colourings, or sweeteners.

All their beverages are gluten-free, vegan, and designed for those who love a strong ginger flavour.

Their current range includes several variations of ginger drinks, such as Dorset Ginger Original, Extra Strong Ginger, and a new Mellow Ginger, among others. The drinks are available in 75cl and 33cl bottles, both online and at local farm shops and delis.

The Dorset Ginger Company, owned by husband-and-wife team Nick and Timi Good, has a story rooted in Nick’s discovery of the original ginger drink, which helped alleviate his stomach complaints.

After finding out the business was about to close, the couple decided to buy it and haven’t looked back since.
