A Poole chiropractic centre donated a day’s work and accepted food to the value of treatment in order to raise money for a homelessness charity.

Life Balance Chiropractic has been collecting food donations for some of the most vulnerable in the community throughout December as part of a Care and Share in the Community campaign.

As at December 20, the number of donations stood at 374.

They’ve now gone to Routes to Roots in Poole for distribution.

Life Balance Chiropractic, which is based in Lagland St, is a member of the UK-wide United Chiropractic Association (UCA).

Rosie Smith, who co-founded the practice with her husband Josh, said: “It has been brilliant seeing a local community come together and donate so many items.

“We are incredibly proud of all of our clients who have come in and shown support for such an amazing cause.

“We must keep supporting great charities like this, not only around the festive season.

“We are also incredibly proud to be a part of such an amazing team here at Life Balance Chiropractic.

“Not only have the team given items but they were able to raise £1,120 through donating a day’s work and additional collection.

“We wanted to give back to local charities, who we know are providing expert help in our community.

“Routes to Roots were the perfect fit – the work they do to provide hot food, showers, a safe space and support with the correct channels to receive services such as housing is outstanding,

“We hope ourselves, and all of our clients, have added additional aid to Routes to Roots through donations this year, allowing everyone, rightfully, to have a hot meal every day.

“The charity has welcomed the support of our practice as well as our clients and is greatly appreciative of the generosity towards this food drive this Christmas.

“Routes to Roots has a page on its own website – routestoroots.org/charity/donation-items – with items which they accept all year round and other ways to donate and support.

“We hope everyone in our community has a safe, warm and happy Christmas.”

Routes to Roots is run by a group of volunteers and has been supporting rough sleepers, vulnerably housed and newly housed (formerly homeless) adults in Poole since 2000.

With over 40 homeless people in Poole alone, it has a network of five drop-ins providing necessities to the public, including showers, hot food, clothing, and sleeping bags.

The team also offers access to the Poole addictions team, mental health workers, Poole rough sleeper outreach team and housing advisers.
